Cons

They’re Really Expensive

It would be wrong to say that they are the most expensive as they are considered to be an investment for your home. They are custom made to fit your window size most of the time.

When budget is a constraint, many customers opt for shutters for windows facing the front of the house and finish the remaining windows with other window treatment options.

Shutters are Always Visible

If you want that your window coverings completely vanish from sight at night or during the day, shutters are not a good choice.

They would let you enjoy the complete outside view but they would rest on the sides of the window, unlike the shades or blinds that can be hidden in a valance.

Lead Times

If you want a quick installation, shutters are not a good choice again. They have probably the highest lead times of all the window coverings.

Blinds and shades can take up to 2 to 3 weeks to arrive while shutters can take up to 8 weeks depending on the manufacturer and this might not even include the time for installation.

So, if you’re moving to a home without window coverings, you need to order the shutters well in advance.

Pros

They Increase the Value of Your Home

As we already said, shutters are an investment that increases the resale value of your home. Shutters are more durable than any other window treatment.

So, when you plan to sell your home in the future, shutters are definitely going to add value.

Pleasing Aesthetics

Shutters are timeless and never go out of style. Custom shutters that are specially designed to fit your windows look amazing.

Whether your home or room style is traditional, contemporary, Shutters match them all.

Safe Option

They don’t come with any cords or strings that pose a potential safety threat for pets and kids. They are sturdy products that stand the test of the time.

Experts say that shutters enjoy twice the life of other window coverings and so they are definitely a good investment.

Easy to Clean

If you struggle with time for cleaning, low maintenance shutters are for you! You just need a duster for everyday cleaning. If you notice any stains or dirt, you can just wipe it off with a damp cloth.

Versatile

Shutters come in various design options. Louver size, no. of panels, specialty windows, hinging, panel lift systems, the options are many. There is no window for which there is no shutter available.

Light Control

For a sunshine state like Florida, Sunlight can be a reason to worry during the day time. When you have shutters, you can manipulate the sunlight by tilting the louvers. If you have small windows, look for small shutter slats and vice a versa.

If you are looking for a complete blackout, then close the shutters. You can also pair the shutters with curtains or drapes to achieve complete blackout.
