If you feel like you have significant DIY skills, then you may be tempted to fit your boiler. If you’ve bought one and you’re reading up on boiler fitting online, it might look easy. This is one job that you may want to leave to the professionals, though.

Baxi Boilers can come to your home and take care of this task. Before you call them, consider these reasons why you shouldn’t tackle this job yourself.

Fitting It Yourself Can Void the Warranty

A new boiler comes with a warranty. That’s one of the nice things about it. However, many times, if you look at the fine print, you will see that if you attempt to fit it on your own, it will void that warranty. That is one of the most crucial reasons why it makes sense to bring in the pros on this job.

The Boiler Must Meet All Relevant Building Regulations

If you’re going to install a boiler, then that installation job needs to meet all the parameters your local authority requires.

What that authority is will vary according to where you live, but there is always some entity whose job it is to check a boiler to make sure that it has been fitted properly. If you do the job yourself and bring in a representative from that entity to check on it, they may tell you that you need to redo the work.

Working with Gas Comes with Possible Dan

If you are fitting a boiler, then you’re working with gas. As you probably understand, gas can be quite dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Let’s say you fit the boiler on your own. You look at it and think you’ve done a good job. Then, you try to activate the boiler. If you have not fit that boiler correctly, then a gas leak is absolutely possible. That can lead to a disaster with injuries or deaths. An explosion can occur, but carbon monoxide poisoning is much more likely.

If You’re Not Qualified, You’re in Uncharted Territory

In most cases, it’s technically not illegal for you to do work like fitting your boiler that involves gas. However, if you have never done this kind of thing before, watching a couple of videos on YouTube that make it look easy will not be sufficient training.

If you have never handled a job like this before, you’re flying blind. No amount of preparation that you undertake on your own will put you in the same league as professionals who have done dozens or hundreds of these jobs.

You Have Not Completed an Industry-Recognized Training Course

Individuals who are qualified to do boiler fitting have taken courses that teach them what to do in these situations. These are typically the most up-to-date courses that emphasize safety.

You have not taken anything like that. You do not have any of the requisite certifications that indicate you’ve been properly schooled on what to do if something goes wrong.
