  1. Start With the Hardest Task

Sometimes the best way to get something done is just to hunker down and get through it. As hard as it can be to get started, completing the most significant task first gives you the momentum you may need to tackle the rest of your to-do list.

While your most hated chore might not seem like a fun place to start, you’ll feel great once you’re through.

  1. Clean a Little at a Time

There’s no reason why you have to do all of your spring cleaning in a single day. It’s often easier if you take it on a task-by-task basis.

Write a list of everything you need to do. Then, separate the tasks by room and rank each chore from most important to least. Finally, pick and clean a room per day until your list is complete.

You’ll soon find that even if you only spend 15 minutes per day cleaning, your house will look great and you’ll feel less stressed.

  1. Clean Your Sponge and Microwave at the Same Time

Let’s face it, most of us don’t think to clean out our microwaves. As this guide points out, your microwave is something you should clean out once per week.

Fortunately, cleaning a microwave is quick and easy. And best of all, you can freshen up your sponge at the same time!

Start by soaking an old, grimy sponge in a cup of warm water, a few tablespoons of vinegar, and a pinch of salt. Let it sit for a few hours, then rinse it out until any hint of vinegar is gone.

Next, run the sponge under warm water and place it in the microwave for about a minute. This should create enough steam that you can then use the sponge to wipe down the microwave.

  1. Don’t Forget Your Vents

Spring means fresh flowers and warm air. Of course, for a lot of people, it also means allergy season. Seasonal allergies can be a pain, and breathing in musty air certainly won’t make things easier.

Take a swifter pad or duster and dust around each vent in your home. You’ll be surprised at how dirty your vents get.

  1. Donate Old Clothes, Toys, and Furniture

Running out of space? Why not give some of the things you don’t use to the less fortunate.

Donating old clothes is a great way to clear up some much-needed closet space while helping those in need. And you don’t have to stop at clothes, either.

Most Goodwill locations will accept toys and furniture, as well. Sometimes they’ll even pick up your old belongings and provide a tax write-off for your donation.

Freshen Things up With These Spring Cleaning Hacks

There you have it, five of the best spring cleaning hacks guaranteed to help you have a cleaner, happier spring. Remember, just a few minutes of cleaning per day can make a big difference, so start today.
