Add Ventilation
Mold can grow as a consequence of built-up condensation or moisture. One of the most common places to find mold in your home is in the bathroom, attic, or basement.
These places commonly have built-up condensation from differing temperatures or wet weather. Adding some extra ventilation will allow the condensation to escape instead of landing on your plants. It’s also a good idea to open windows when you take a shower.
Remove Soil Mold
You may notice mold on your plants because of the discoloration of your soil. The soil may have a white tinge to it. Simply use a spoon to remove the mold you can see and add fresh soil where necessary.
You may have to remove the plant and re-plant in new soil if the mold has reached the bottom of the plant. When the mold travels that far, there’s a risk of it overtaking the plant at the root.
Monitor Watering
If your plants appear damp, watering them could do more harm than good. Mold is created from an excess of moisture, so your plant soil will need to dry before you begin watering regularly again.
Damp soil can be a sign of excess condensation in your home. If you’re worried about mold in your home, getting a mold inspection could uncover the problem. After all, mold in the home can be harmful to residents.
Try an Anti-Fungal Spray
Getting rid of mold can be tricky, so it’s best to do what you can to prevent it. An anti-fungal spray is a great way to give your plant soil the protection it needs to fight off mold.
If you do find the mold and remove it, an anti-fungal spray can stop it from returning. You don’t need to spend a fortune on expensive concoctions either. A small amount of apple cider vinegar or a few spoons of cinnamon mixed with water will do the trick.
