Depending on the size of the items that you need to store there are many different types of sharing options that you can also look for.

Most shed companies these days will be able to provide you with sizes specific to your dimensions rather than having to choose from an off-the-shelf size that may not work for you or fit in the space that you have.

  1. Basic garden Shed
  2. Small structural shed (Steel building)
  3. A roof-only stru

Basic Garden Shed

One option is just a basic garden shed this shed is not structural, meaning that it does not have structural columns and rafters it is simply, held up by the sheets themselves and some basic steel edges for the sheets to clip into.

This type of shared design it’s very easy to install and does not take very long at all you could probably get a garden shed built in one day.

Small Structural Shed (Steel building)

The other option you have is to go with a smaller structural type shed or in this case, you would call it I still building. Whilst the term still building may seem overkill there are smaller-sized steel members that would be appropriate for this type of construction.

For example, you could build something like this with 100 mm C-section framing and with top-span wall girts and roof battens to screw on your wall and roof sheets. The benefit of a building like this is that it is more secure it will be harder to knock over in the wind and it will keep people out of your valuable possessions.

A building like this can have a solid personal access door meaning that it is just a door for a person to enter and exit the building you can also include a roller door which is a door that can be a lot wider than a personal door and open up the full height of the wall of that building.

Something like this would be perfect for larger items that are more valuable and that you need to keep dry as this type of building would be more waterproof and also more valuable in terms of adding value to your property as it is a permanent structure.

There are many great places within Australia to get yourself a steel building that would suit the purpose of what you are planning to do and many great brands. Here is one that seems to have nice sheds.

Check out Modern Steel Buildings, They were able to provide me with everything that I needed to be able to build my shed there is a photo here that I have provided to give you an idea of the type of shed I built to keep in mind that you can build a shed a lot smaller or a lot bigger the best place to start is to walk out to the area you plan on building and running a tape measure over the floor to try and get an understanding of what size you may fit keep in mind too that you need to stay away from fence line boundaries and depending on your council requirements you will need to also be a certain distance away from any habitable dwelling, in this case, it would be your house.

A Roof-Only Structure

A roof-only structure is another option that you may want to consider this option provides you with protection from the rain and sun and will keep items dry to a certain degree keeping in mind this building does not have walls so it is most typically used for items that can get wet such as cars motorbike jet skis caravans and outdoor storage items.

The roof-only structure can be supplied by most shed and steel building companies and provided to you as what they would call a carport. Carports provided by these companies are an excellent solution for outdoor storage and in most cases a permanent structure that will add value to your property.

You can add this carport or roof-only structure to the front or rear of your house and if you come you can build it yourself as they can be quite simple to construct.

Conclusion

In conclusion, we have discussed the many options for home storage and getting things out of the house and into some type of outdoor shed. Three options that you have are a basic garden shed or a small structural steel building or a roof-only structure.

These are the three options in something that you can consider. If you’re uncertain about what you should be building it is beneficial to discuss with your local shed company to try and gauge what the consultant within that business may recommend for you this could be based on the price it could be based on availability or it could be based on whether or not the type of structure is to be permanent old semi-temporary.
