Granite is longlisting and especially beautiful. But these attributes only come to full fruition if the rock is selected and cared for with the utmost skill and precision, here is what you should know:

Combine the Granite with the Cabinets

granite can be brown, blue, black, grey, white and many other colours as well. Match lighter cabinet colours with the light veins and details of a richer darker granite countertop. The effects are amazing the other way around too.

Choosing Light or Dark Granite

there are lighter and darker granite tones for your selection and this can be used to improve the aesthetics of your project.

For example, if you have a smaller kitchen, a lighter colour will make your kitchen look brighter and bigger. Darker tones of granite will add a dramatic tone that fits perfectly with a modernist style.

Choose a Pattern

granite can be found in a variety of attractive patterns and each will have a different effect on the mood and style of your kitchen.

Opulent marbling is sophisticated and elegant. Speckled patterns are cheerier and allow for the versatile colour scheme.

Finally, there are more pragmatic solid colours that are both beautiful and don’t clash with any colours in their environment.

While you are making your selection of granite countertops in Maryland, you will want to be especially inquisitive about the care and maintenance of these remarkably beautiful natural stones.

While granite is tougher than marble it is still susceptible to various types of damage.

Here Are Some Ways to Keep Your Granite Countertop from the Worst Damage:

Scratches

always place a soft cloth, pad or non-abrasive trivet for anything you will place on the counter.

Plates, silverware, utensils, knives and many other kitchen implements can scratch the granite and over time this will deteriorate the immaculate surface.

Spills

even with a sealant, granite is a porous stone and you will want to make sure to avoid spills as much as you can clean up any that do occur as fast as you possibly can.

The use of placemats and coasters will be essential to maintaining the beauty of your granite countertop for many years.

Heat

granite is a great choice for the countertops in your kitchen because by many standards it resists heat very well. But this doesn’t mean that heat will have no effect on the granite in your kitchen.

You will want to use heat pads and non-scratch trivets to keep the heat from pots, pans and baking projects from seeping into the granite and deteriorating the structural integrity of the stone. Cracks and damage can cause costly replacements.

Pressure

you should never assume that just because a granite countertop is a strong material that it is also indestructible. Do not place heavy objects on the countertop or allow children or pets to climb on top of the counter.
