How to Get Rid of Mud Stains

The most common type of carpet stain comes from any person or pet that trails mud inside. You may have a rule about removing shoes at the door, but dirt always finds a way to settle in your home. The good news is that removing unsightly mud stains is easy.

If your dirt stain is old and dry, then applying a paste made out of cornstarch and vinegar could be all you need. To make this paste, mix one to two tablespoons of cornstarch with equal parts of white vinegar and stir until combined. Coat the stain with the paste, let it dry for a day or two, and then vacuum the mess away.

If you’re dealing with fresh mud, use a clean wet towel and try to blot as much of the stain as possible without causing it to spread. After that, you can make a cleaning solution by combining 1/4 teaspoon of white vinegar or carpet-friendly detergent with 4 cups of water. Apply the solution and continue to gently dab until the stain is gone.

How to Remove Coffee Stains from Carpet

If you’re not a morning person, it’s easy to spill your coffee as you’re rushing out the door. Although cleaning up may make you late, you’ll get the best results by treating your carpet as soon as you spill.

There are a few different ways you can clean coffee stains. If you have club soda on hand, you can get impressive results by simply pouring some over the stain as you blot it clean with a towel.

Another way to tackle a coffee stain is to combine equal parts of white vinegar and water. Pour this solution over the stain and blot the carpet until it’s clean.

How to Treat Other Types of Liquid Stains

If someone spilled juice, jelly, ketchup, or any other wet substance, you can treat the stain with detergent, vinegar, and water. To make this cleaning solution, combine 1 tablespoon of laundry detergent, 1 1/2 tablespoons of white vinegar, and two cups of water.

The first thing you should do is dab the stain with a wet towel to soak up as much of the liquid as possible. Next, apply your cleaning solution and gently rub it into your carpet. To finish, use a clean part of your wet towel to blot the rest of the stain out.

How to Remove Carpet Stains Caused by Bodily Fluids

If you have young children or pets, your carpet is probably no stranger to blood, pee, poop, or even vomit accidents. In order to rescue your carpet from these types of stains, it’s best to act fast. When handling any of these messes, the first step is to get the stain as dry as possible with a clean towel.

For blood and vomit stains, combine one tablespoon of ammonia with one cup of cold water. When tackling blood stains, it’s important to use cold water to prevent deep fiber stains. Once you’ve made your cleaning solution, you can pour it over the stain and dab it with a clean towel.

For urine stains, you can’t go wrong with reliable baking soda. All you have to do is dump some onto the stain and let it sit. After the baking soda has absorbed the urine and sanitized the carpet, you can go over the area with a vacuum.

For any poop accidents, it’s best to soak the stain with a solution made out of 1/4 cup of white vinegar and 4 cups of warm water. After the solution sits a few minutes, take a damp towel and blot the stain until it comes out.

How to Get Old Stains Out of Carpet

Most of us can admit to hiding our stains and pretending the accident never happened. If you’re guilty of doing this, you’ll be surprised to know that you can still save your carpet. Here’s how to remove stains from carpets that are long dry.

Although old stains require a bit more labor to scrub out, it’s possible to make your carpet look brand new again. To start, sprinkle some baking soda over your stain. Next, combine one tablespoon of white vinegar and clear dish soap with two cups of warm water.

When your solution is ready, you can start to pour a little on the stain. When the vinegar and soap react with the baking soda, the area should start to bubble a bit. Use a bristled cleaning brush to scrub the cleaning solution deep into your carpet fibers.

Once you notice the carpet stain is disappearing, you can use a clean wet towel to dab away the rest of the stain and the cleaning solution. When the carpet is dry, it should look renewed.

How to Get Stains Out of Carpet Quick and Easily

If you’ve tried all kinds of DIY solutions on your stains to no avail or you want to avoid the hassle, you can’t go wrong with professional cleaning services. Not only will this method give you perfect results every time, but you can revitalize your entire carpet.

Professionals like Steam Care can make your whole floor look stunning and even improve your air quality.
