Tree pruning has dual benefits – it creates a safe environment and ensures better tree health. Sometimes trees tend to overgrow, which, if allowed to continue, can turn dangerous during a storm and rainy season as it obstructs air movement and creates so much resistance that can uproot the tree and damage property and lives.

Keeping trees pruned creates healthy and beautiful trees while removing the dangers of uprooting or breaking and increases its longevity.

But tree pruning does not mean just chopping trees at random because it can hurt growth and make trees look ugly. You must hire the tree service Rogers AR to ensure pruning in the correct way that justifies the claim that it is both an art and science.

Pruning is special because the growth of trees can change with each cut, and there must be enough reason to cut a branch without affecting tree health.

Reasons for Pruning Trees

Improving the form, removing dead branches, and reducing risks are the most common reasons for pruning trees.

But there are some other benefits like allowing more light to penetrate through trees as pruning thins down the vegetation and creates passages for better airflow through the crown of trees or the landscape under it.

Pruning mature trees is a preventive or corrective measure because routine thinning does not help to improve tree health. Trees that go through regular pruning enjoy better health.

When is it Right to Prune Trees?

The best time to trim or prune trees is between fall when trees change leaves and just before the flowers bloom in spring.

It means that you can choose a time between late fall and early spring when the season is dry and clear to carry out the work without any hindrance. But make it a point that you complete the job before the spring blooms emerge.

Trees need pruning every 3-5 years, but it depends on various factors like the type of tree and its health and size. The arborist can tell you correctly the cycle of pruning you should maintain.

Types of Pruning

Pruning in general means tree cutting, but the manner of cutting that defines the type of pruning depends on what you want to achieve by pruning trees.

  • Bonsai is the art of achieving unusual shapes of plants by using the technique of Topiary pruning that uses special techniques to control the growth of plants and maintain it at a preconceived level while retaining its beauty and health.
  • Orchard pruning has an entirely different purpose because it aims at maximizing economic return and promotes early fruit production. It requires a special kind of pruning to ensure that fruit production remains at its peak.
  • Landscape pruning aims at reducing the hazards that can happen from overgrown trees and maintain trees in good shape that looks beautiful. It helps to maintain the natural form and increase its longevity.

When branches grow from or toward the tree’s center, sprouts form at the base of the trunk, crossed limbs that have chances of rubbing against one another, and of course dead and diseased branches, you should know that it is time for pruning.
