The Ultimate Home Maintenance Checklist for Every Season

Making a routine of cleaning gutters, inspecting electrical systems, or paying a contractor to check your roof once a year can all help you avoid headaches in the long term.

Let’s look at the main components of a house that must be maintained seasonally to maintain convenience inside the home.

Summer Maintenance List

During summer, as the temperature rises and the humidity increases, many homes begin to overuse certain home appliances.

Furthermore, the intense heat can damage both the inside and exterior features of your house, therefore summer house maintenance is essential! When the temperature begins to rise, pay attention to the following factors both inside and outside of your home.

  • Clean the dryer vents and washer hoses on the interior and exterior of the house.
  • Do maintenance of the air cooler, if necessary.
  • Clean the drip trays, freezer and refrigerator coils, and freezer.
  • Look for leaks around toilets, and cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom.
  • Trim shrubs and trees.
  • Lubricate the garage door, the chain, the garage door, and all other door hinges.
  • Clean the filter on the kitchen exhaust fan.
  • Check for leaks in the dishwasher.
  • If necessary, replace the interior and exterior faucet washers, as well as the shower head washers.

  • Clean the fireplace vents and inspect the fireplace for risks or damage.
  • Fill in any gaps and cracks in windows and doors, and replace them if necessary.
  • Check the roof for leaks and missing loose, or broken tiles.
  • Clear the gutters and downspouts of leaves and other debris.
  • Repair the walkway and driveway’s cracks and openings.

Winter Maintenance Checklist

Winter sometimes can prove to be harsh for your home. Frozen pipes and roof damage are just a couple of the issues that the below-freezing temperatures may bring about. Check off these winter home maintenance tasks from your list to avoid winter damage and call a professional in the midst of a blizzard.

  • Check the attic and basement for leaks and critters.
  • To get rid of dust and dirt, vacuum the coils of your refrigerator.
  • To avoid freezing, insulate the external pipes in the basement and garage.
  • The flashlights, generator, and snow shovels should all be upgraded in preparation for winter storms.
  • Cover your AC unit to keep it clean from dust.

Spring Maintenance Checklist

Spring is literally the best season. After a long chilling time, it’s the time of year when countless homeowners can see the sun again and flip their homes inside out to clean the inside and outside and get rid of clutter.

However, the home maintenance part is totally disregarded during this cleaning spree. What follows is likely what your spring maintenance checklist should include.

  • Check the roof for leaks and missing loose, or broken shingles.
  • Clear the screens on your doors and windows.
  • Check the chimney for any damage.
  • Check sprinkler heads and take the insulation off outdoor faucets.
  • Service the air conditioning system.
  • The water heater should be flushed or drained.
