Dig Them Up

The most labor-intensive and often the most effective way to rid your yard of weeds is to dig them up.

Take a trowel and carefully dig up any weeds in your yard that you want to be removed. It will take some serious elbow grease, and you’ll have to be careful to get as much of the roots as you can when you remove these plants, but you’ll rapidly clear your lawn of these pests.

You can use a sickle-blade or a dandelion remover to make this digging process simpler and faster as well.

Do your best to dig up weeds early in the season and stick with them throughout the season.

If you’re diligent about pulling weeds as you spot them, they won’t come back as frequently, and you’ll find your yard becomes easier and easier to maintain over time.

Apply Herbicides with Care

Herbicides designed specifically to kill the weeds you’re dealing with are excellent for handling the problem.

Often, you spray on the chemicals, and the weeds will die within a day or two. The trouble with these products is that they aren’t always good for your lawn either.

If you’re trying to take weeds out of an active lawn and don’t want to damage the grass, you need to choose your herbicides with care.

Talk with local experts when buying your products to ensure you get something that will work for your specific use case.

Try and determine the type of grass you have on your lawn and use this information to help choose herbicides that won’t hurt your lawn.

Apply Some Flames

Flame weeders are special wand-shaped tools that rely on propane to generate scorching flames. These flames are applied to the tops of the weeds to kill them off rapidly.

Flaming weeds is significantly faster than digging them out but not quite as effective either. The chances are good that you’ll have to hit the same areas with flames a few times before they finally stay away.

Be careful when using this tool to start a fire, and never utilize a flame weeder during periods of drought.

As long as you use this tool responsibly, you can get a handle on even a significant weed problem rapidly.

Consider Natural Products

While herbicides work well for killing most weeds, they aren’t great for the environment or your lawn.

There are some natural techniques you can use to kill weeds that aren’t as time-consuming as digging them up yourself.

One idea you should try is pouring boiling water over the weeds. As long as the water is fully boiling, you can damage most weeds with it and often get them to go away for good.

Boiling water works well in gravel and between pavers. You can often utilize household items such as Epsom salts, apple cider vinegar, or dish soap to handle some weeds as well.

Different weeds respond to different treatments, so it is up to you to determine what will work best for the specific weeds you’re dealing with.

Hire a Professional

If you’re struggling with weeds after trying multiple techniques, you should consider hiring professionals to help you with the problem instead.

You can get pros that understand the weeds you are dealing with intimately to come and take care of the issue for you.

Talk with local professionals about your problem and get estimates and more information about what they can do for you. After just a few short conversations, you should have a potential solution for yourself.

If you’re sick and tired of the weeds on your lawn, it’s up to you to do something about it. You can try one or more of the techniques described above to help you begin resolving the issue.

It’s going to take hard work and serious effort to take care of the issue, though. If you don’t want to deal with the problem yourself, you can always work with local professionals to take care of the issue. You’ll save time and enjoy better results with the right pros on your side.
