Wall sconces are a stylish way to add extra light to any room and provide an accent piece that can be the highlight of a room.

Trying to find the perfect wall sconce? These tips will help you find the right one for you and your home.

Your Guide to Buying Wall Sconces

There are many different styles of wall sconces at James Said in Australia, but when choosing one, it’s important to look at many factors, including size, shape, material, and overall design.

Not all wall sconce styles are created equal, so it’s important to know what to look for before purchasing one.

Wall Sconce Size

There are two things to consider when looking at size: how big you want the wall sconce and where it will be placed on the wall if you want something small, like a single candle or a simple lantern style light, then finding a wall sconce that is small in size won’t be too difficult.

On the other hand, finding a wall sconce that fits that style might be more challenging if you want something large or bolder in style.

For example, if you want a large chandelier style light, such as those typically used in dining rooms and entryways, then finding one that’s lightweight and easy to mount on a wall can be difficult.

Functionality

Wall sconces often feature lights and mirrors, but don’t let that limit your imagination. There are still plenty of ways to use them in otherwise dark areas.

For example, if you’d like a decorative touch over an entryway table but don’t have enough space for a chandelier, try using two matching wall scones on either side of the table instead. You can also combine them with wall mirrors to maximize their functionality.

Stainless Steel Wall Sconce

The style of your sconces should match the decor in your home. If you want something unique, you can search for antique sconces as well.

However, if you prefer something simple, stick with modern designs. The material used in their construction also makes a difference. While brass and copper look elegant and antique, they may not be appropriate for a modern setting.

If you prefer contemporary designs, look for stainless steel or iron items. Wall sconces that are made from wood are more appropriate for rustic interiors.

Lighting Options

Wall sconces are available in two different styles traditional and contemporary. Traditional wall sconces come in several different sizes and styles, including Victorian, Colonial, English, and Mission designs.

They’re typically made from brass or metal with glass shades. Contemporary wall sconces tend to be sleeker and less ornate than their traditional counterparts, and they usually come without shades because they feature bulbs instead of candles or other sources of flame.

Location

Before buying any wall sconces for your home, think about where you want to put them.

If you have high ceilings, you might want to install a pair near eye level for the best effect. On the other hand, it’s hard for you to reach the top of your walls.
