A Fresh Cut Lawn Is a Beautiful Lawn

The most beautiful landscaping doesn’t look good if there are six inches of tall grass on the lawn. Regular lawn mowing can add beauty by itself, but when you add in landscaping elements it makes the lawn shine.

Once your lawn gets three inches high, it’s time to get out the mower. Long grass or grass that has gone to seed, makes the entire lawn look awful. It’s important to stay ahead of the growth and cut it down before it gets out of control.

Choose the Type of Grass Carefully

If you’re creating a lawn from scratch, then take careful consideration into the type of grass you out in. Turfgrass needs about six hours of direct sunlight each day if it is to grow heartily. Don’t use it in areas where there is significant shade.

There are many types of grass. Some are hearty and can take long periods of drought or need less water. When you’re looking at grass types, determine how much sun it gets and if you have enough natural rain to keep it going to if you’ll need to water.

Coordinate Your Lawn

When you plan what to wear, you can spend hours determining the right top to go with your pants and shoes. It’s not that much different with your lawn. Coordinate not only your natural plants such as trees and flowers but your pavement and other accents as well.

If you have bird baths, fountains, pavement or paths, then coordinate the colors with the flowers and trees. You’ll end up with a yard that matches perfectly and seems natural and not man-made.

Plan Your Lawn Design Before Planting

Every gardener has had that one time where a flower they planted didn’t grow at the same rate as everything around it. It makes the lawn look disjointed and a patch of low growth among an area of flourishing plants sticks out like a sore thumb.

When you are planning your planting schedule, choose plants that complement each other’s growth patterns. If you choose plants that grow later than others, mix them in with the early growers. This way, you’ll have new plants growing like the old ones either.

Prepare Your Soil

Having the perfect lawn with fresh cut grass and beautiful flower beds requires a diligent examination of your soil. Plants prosper with proper nutrients. If the soil has too much of one and not enough of another, then it can be disastrous.

Learn what your plants need to thrive and before planting, work the nutrients into the soil. It could be through composting, bags of soil or other methods. Check the acidity of the soil and make sure everything is perfect before you plant the first flower.

Too Much Is as Bad as Too Little

If you have a bland lawn, then landscaping can help bring it to life, but too much can make it look too busy. Landscaping is a balance. Don’t have so many different flowers, lawn accessories, etc. that there’s too much going on.

This can end up looking just as bad or worse than not having enough landscaping.

Create an Enviable Lawn

Lawn design can help turn your boring lawn into something neighbors and passersby envy. Whether you’re upping your curb appeal for a quick sale or developing a long-term lawn presence, landscaping is key.
