Many of us love the idea of completing the ultimate bathroom renovation complete with a new bathtub. But, it might not be as simple as you thought when it comes to replacing a bathtub.

1. Measure First

Sometimes we measure things and don’t do so accurately. While it won’t make or break other projects when it comes to a bathroom remodel, it can throw off all the plans.

Measuring helps you to make the most of the space and ensure that you order parts that will work within your measurements.

Failing to measure correctly could leave you with a tub that’s too large for the designated area or a tub that’s too small.

2. Choose the Tub Wisely

Often people choose a tub that fits within the aesthetic for the bathroom without thinking about things like comfort. Before choosing your new bathtub, you’ll want to dig deeper than surface level.

If you’ve got older relatives living with you, a tub that offers supportive sides to get in and out is a great option. If you enjoy taking long baths to relax your body, you won’t want a tub that has harsh edges for you to rest on.

3. Hire a Professional

Sometimes we get caught up watching channels like HGTV and think we can perform all of our home renovations ourselves. The truth of the matter is when it comes to a bathtub replacement ; it’s best to let a professional step in and do it.

They’ll have the tools and expertise to get the job done right the first time – versus you spending time researching ways to complete the project and running into a massive amount of issues in the process.

4. Water Damage

Many people don’t think about water damage when performing a bathroom renovation. Once you’ve removed the bathtub from the wall, you might find things like mold behind the tub.

This mold has been caused by water being trapped between the tub and the wall.

You will need to ensure that you’ve allotted funds in the budget to take care of things like this before proceeding with the remodel. An inspector will tell you the extent of the damage and what steps need to be taken to repair the issue.

Replacing a Bathtub: Things to Know

Renovating your home is a rewarding experience, especially once everything is done and you get to see the finished projects. When you’re replacing a bathtub, there are several things you need to know ahead of time.

First, it’s best to hire a professional to complete the project for you, and there might be water damage that you didn’t know about hiding behind the tub.
