Glass Shower Door Options to Choose From

Shower doors are an important part of your shower that not only affects the aesthetics of your bathroom but also contains the water inside the shower. These glass shower doors can be framed, frameless, or semi-frameless, depending upon your preferences.

1.  Framed Door

Framed glass doors are entirely surrounded and supported by a frame around their external edges. These doors are made from textured or tempered glass and are a much cheaper option among the three types of doors.

But despite being a cheaper option, they look just as stylish and elegant as the other options. You can get custom shower door layouts for your bathroom as well.

2 . Frameless Door

As the name suggests, these glass shower doors do not have a frame or metal around their external edges.

These doors are made from tempered glass with a thickness of 3/8″-1/2″. Frameless doors give a stylish and modern look to your bathroom, and they also enhance the tile work or stonework in your shower.

3.  Semi-frameless Door

These types of shower doors have metal around the whole structure but not the entire door. These are best for people who want to add a frameless glass door vibe but are on a budget.

Common Door Opening Styles to Choose From

The next thing you need to consider is the space within your bathroom and the way you want to enter your shower area. This will also determine the type of shower door and opening style you should go for.

1.  Pivoting Door

Just like other doors in your house, these glass doors also swing outwards when opened. Pivoting doors are easy to use but can only be installed in bathrooms that have enough space.

2.  Sliding Door

Sliding glass doors are best for bathrooms with small and cramped spaces as they smoothly slide and overlap on top of each other when opened.

3.  Bi-fold Door

Bi-fold glass shower doors offer a style between the other two options. So if you have a smaller bathroom but want a wider space, then bi-fold doors are for you as they fold over when opened, giving more entrance space. They are functional as well as chic and classy.

Types of Glass for Doors to Choose From

Once you have decided upon the type of door and opening style that best suits your bathroom, you need to consider the existing aesthetics of your bathroom. This will help in determining the type of glass that best goes with it.

1.  Clear Glass

A clear glass shower door adds elegance to the bathroom and allows maximum light to enter the shower. This type of glass is a good option for the small and narrow bathroom.

2. Textured Glass

Frosted glass is a textured finish to the glass that allows more privacy in the shower. You can get the glass frosted on the entire surface or in a design that you want.

Similar to frosted glass, rain glass is also a textured finish that provides privacy but allows more light than frosted glass. In this type of glass, tiny raindrops are etched into the surface to form the texture.
