Have all Your Cleaning Supplies Place

Cleaning the roof is not for the faint-hearted because you need to go up there. Wear your overalls and gloves. Also, ensure you have all the stuff you need up there. This way, you won’t have to climb down every time you reach for a different cleaning item.

Clean the Debris on the Roof

Be very careful while up there because you can fall in case of any misstep. Start by sweeping the roof and removing all loose debris. Then, you can use a very effective leaf blower. This will make the cleaning easy.

After removing the debris, check for any loose nails on the roof and basic maintenance. If you notice there’s a lot to be done there in terms of maintenance, you can contact a professional to do the job for you. Before proceeding to the roof, you should clean the gutter first. Cleaning the gutter is fast and easy.

Clean Your Roof

Make your cleaning solution (bleach and water). Do not use a lot of bleach. If used excessively, it can burn your shingles. Instead, spray water with your garden hose, and be sure to wet every part of the roof. Then, spray the solution and pay attention to parts with heavy stains. Leave the solution for 10- to 20 minutes, depending on the stains on the roof.

Rinse off the solution. Make sure you use a sprayer that has high pressure to remove any debris that has been stuck. Reapply the solution and give it 10-20 minutes. You can use a soft brush or broom to scrub the roof if you notice that the stains are still there. Finally, respray the water and leave it to dry.

Take Away

Roof cleaning is an important undertaking during a home facelift. Experts recommend leaving the roof cleaning process to trained professionals like Chicago gutter cleaners. This will avoid accidents and mistakes that can damage your shingles or plants. In addition, clean your roof regularly to prevent excessive growth of mold and algae that can damage your roof.
