  1. Fixing a Leaky Kitchen or Bathroom Pipe

Some plumbing and heating  jobs require professional insight. Fixing a leaky kitchen or bathroom pipe is not one of those jobs. This DIY job may only require tightening the slip-nut, and nesting the P-trap. Friend, that ain’t nothin’.

If the leak is issuing from a hole in a drainpipe, your best bet might be coupling the leak with hose clamps.

There is one caveat to fixing leaky pipes. If the leaky pipe is inside the wall, you probably want to talk to a contractor about the possibilities.

  1. Fixing a Clogged Garbage Disposal

Since garbage disposals don’t have elaborate plumbing systems, they’re a simple fix. You can fix garbage disposal clogs with a specialty wrench that fits into an opening on the bottom of the disposal.

Be careful and make sure the garbage disposal is off. But if the mentioned method doesn’t work, and the problem is more complex, it’s best to ask for professional help.

  1. Door Repairs

Doors are some of the easiest DIY projects in the home. Even though wooden, interior doors aren’t exposed to the elements, they still have wear and tear issues. And in humid weather, doors can warp.

Inspecting the doors in your home for loose screws or deteriorating hinges saves you from unexpected expenses down the road. Tightening loose screws and replacing door hinges is an easy fix that doesn’t take much time.

  1. Fixing a Faucet

The home renovation comes in all shapes and sizes. Fixing faucets is a simple DIY project that takes little to no time. It also allows you to get creative with your installation. Installing a faucet is as easy as following the manufacturer’s instructions manual.

But if you’re trying to be fancy with your faucet design, it’s advisable to go with professional help.

  1. Unplugging a Clogged Toilet

Unplugging a toilet isn’t the most glamorous job, but somebody has to do it. Roll up your sleeves and do some dirty work. Unclogging a toilet isn’t something you can put off until next Tuesday, so it behooves you to know how to act fast.

Don’t panic; it’s only a toilet. Then examine the problem and come up with a solution. Chances are, a foreign object got stuck, especially if your child accidentally dropped their toy in the toilet. If this happens, put on some gloves and go fishing.

If an object smaller than a toy is obstructing the toilet, you can always use a plunger.

Use Your Handyman Skills Today

Some handyman skills are simple and don’t get much glory. But that doesn’t mean you can’t take pride in your work. Most of these DIY jobs are necessary for the functioning of a quality home.

So take pride in knowing that you keep your home safe, clean, and cozy. Read more of our articles to see how you can improve your home today!
