What comes to your mind when you think of a pressure washer? Many people automatically think of car washing.

While this is one application area a pressure washer is used, you’d be surprised at the many other things they can clean up.

Cleaning up things using a pressure washer can be calming as you watch dirt and debris being effortlessly squalled away by the immense pressure from the jets of water.

Top 7 Uses for Your Pressure Washer

Whether you’re renting one or using your own, there are many benefits one can accrue from using a pressure washer.

Most of them have a specific nozzle for dispensing cleaning detergent and a water holding container.

It’s always advisable to read through the user manual before operating to know how to engage the different nozzles for various tasks.

You should be extra careful selecting a nozzle type for a particular cleaning job; you wouldn’t want to use excessive pressure on surfaces that easily scratch.

If you want top-notch pressure washing in Annapolis, there are several companies you can look out for that offer power washing for your home.

Let’s go through the top 7 uses for your pressure washer!

1. Driveways and Walkways

Most people buy a pressure washer to ease the washing of their driveways and walkways. It has never been easier with this incredible tool!

These two places accumulate the most dirt from cars, people, and even rain.

Tip; pressure washers use a lot of water. It’s best if you clear some of the heavy debris first instead of relying on the washer pressure alone (You can use a leaf blower).

The detergent used for cleaning concrete can be harmful to the plants along the driveway. So, ensure you cover them with a canvas or tarp before starting your cleaning.

Be sure to uncover them as soon as you’re done to avoid overheating.

2. House Sidings

Vinyl and other popular materials used for your home sidings can be cleaned by a pressure washer.

Before scheduling for a wash, do an around-the-house inspection to confirm there are no cracks (or broken gutters).

If you find any, ensure they’re fixed before the cleaning to ensure no further damage due to pressure cleaning.

You’ve to be conscious of your washer pressure and the distance between you and the vinyl wall to avoid damage (set it at low pressure, you can always increase it later).

Also, watch out for windows and outdoor lights.

3. Garage Floor

Depending on where you live, the garage can get dirty fast from accumulated grease stains and dirt brought in by the car tires.

Nothing comes in handy to such a place as the pressure washer. After emptying and sweeping your garage, you have to pretreat the whole floor with a degreaser (set the washer nozzle on a low-pressure for this).

Leave it to soak for 20-30 minutes. Reset your pressure washer nozzle to a suitable high setting and rinse it off. Your garage floor should be sparkling clean after this!

4. Outdoor Patios

Mainly during summer, outdoor patios often teem with activity and are the preferred place for grill parties.

This makes it an excellent candidate for grime to accumulate, both on the floors and the outdoor patio furniture.

With a pressure washer, the whole patio space with its furniture can be clean in under one hour!

It’s a good idea to wash the furniture first (the floor will meanwhile be soaking) before moving them elsewhere to dry. Finish off with the floor; you can soak it afresh with new detergent.

5. Wood Decks

A pressure washer usually washes the deck clean with just plain water.

But if the deck has been unwashed for a long time, it may contain lichen/mildew, therefore needing wood cleaner. You’ll need to be extra careful when washing such a deck as it can get slippery.

Ensure you use the right nozzle. High pressure can ruin the deck.

6. Cars and Trucks

Vehicles accumulate dirt fast and easily; handwashing them can be tiring as they need to be washed regularly.

Using a pressure washer and the right attachment bush (and just a little detergent) can make cleaning vehicles super easy!

Start by running plain water from the washer all around the car. Apply detergent and let it soak for about 5 minutes before rinsing while scrubbing with the attachment brush.

Ensure to keep the nozzle away from the windows and headlights. Also, don’t pressure wash the engine.

7. Fencing

Due to their outside exposure, fences around our homes become dirty, and organisms and plants like algae and moss grow on them.

A thorough clean-up with a pressure washer can revamp its appearance and boost your overall homestead curb appeal.

Choose a washer pressure level depending on your fence type. Use a lower pressure setting for softwood fences.

Caution! Always ensure that you wear safety gear when working with a pressure washer. Dirty water and debris can splatter back onto your face.
