Hire Movers

The first thing that you need to do is hire movers so that everything goes smoothly on your moving day.

You should find a residential mover that will help move all your heavy furniture and large boxes. You might think that you can do it yourself, but it’ll save you a lot of time and stress if you hire someone to do it.

To ensure that your day goes smoothly as possible, ask your neighbors if they have any recommendations for movers. Before you hire one, make sure that you read reviews on the company as well.

Start Packing

Before you start packing, you’ll need a few supplies like some boxes, packing paper, and packing tape.

Once you have all these, start packing each room one at a time. It can be tempting to throw a bunch of random stuff into one box, but this will just be a problem when you’re trying to find something and aren’t sure what box it’s in.

Wake Up a Little Earlier

After you’ve hired a moving company, wake up a little bit earlier on the day they’re supposed to arrive.

You might be tired from the packing and planning, but you’ll likely have a few leftover things that you need to pack and organize.

You might have to pack up your shower, bathroom items, some stuff in the kitchen, or any valuables and essentials.

Meet and Greet the Movers

When the movers show up, make sure that their license plate matches whatever the moving company sent you on the quote. This way you can ensure that you won’t have all your stuff stolen.

Show the movers where everything is and tell them what you don’t want them to pack. Once you’ve done that, get out of the way and let them do their job.

Settle into Your New Home

After the movers pack everything up into their trucks, they’ll transport it to your new home.

Hang up signs on each room so that the movers know where to put everything and you don’t have to follow them around and chaperone where every box goes.

Learn More About What Should be On Your Moving Day Checklist

These are only a few things that should be on your moving day checklist, but there are plenty more things that should be on there.

We know that moving can be stressful, but thankfully you don’t have to do it on your own. We’re here to help!
